License & activation
Free vs. Pro
The free tier is the complete private pipeline — recording, on-device transcription, speaker memory, notes with your own cloud key — capped at 5 meetings per calendar month (the counter resets on the 1st). Pro (one-time, pay what you want) removes the cap and adds fully-local notes with Ollama, the MCP server, and auto-export.
Activating
- Buy Pro on the pricing page. Checkout, invoice, and EU VAT are handled by Polar.sh (merchant of record).
- Your license key arrives by email.
- In Abschrift: Settings → License → paste the key → Activate.
Activation registers this Mac against your key (up to 3 Macs). What's sent: the key and an anonymous machine fingerprint — a hash, never your hardware ID or any meeting data.
Moving to a new Mac
Settings → License → Deactivate this Mac frees the slot; then activate on the new machine. Lost access to an old Mac? Manage devices in Polar's customer portal (link in your purchase email).
Offline behavior
Pro keeps working offline. Abschrift re-validates the license opportunistically when online; being unreachable never downgrades you. Only an explicit revocation (e.g. a refund) returns the app to the free tier — and even then, all your notes and meetings stay fully readable. The license never locks your data.
Updates
Pro includes free updates until version 2.0. The app updates itself (Settings → Updates); every update is cryptographically signed and notarized by Apple.
Refunds
14 days, no questions — request it via the Polar receipt email, or write to support.
